Recap of Spring 2018 Semester

This blog #7 is going to be about my recap of my Spring 2018 semester here at Blinn. So far I have gained so much knowledge over the past few months so far.  I have gained new study methods that I am going to keep going for every course that I may take here at Blinn. The first study method is always look over the notes after class and make flashcards with the new words or phrases. The second study method is everyday do a mini quiz to test yourself to see what you know or what you need to learn more in class or outside of class. I will take all the study methods I learned this semester will also go with me to help me with future courses because it helps me to understand what is being taught in the lesson.    My cognitive toolbox has grown a little more then last semester with the few classes that I have right now because I have the knowledge from last classes to help me understand the material and look at the material in a different way for my mind to soak it all i...

Peter Tabakis's Review on Taylor Swift:Speak Out Album

Image
In Peter Tabakis's review about the album by Taylor Swift called Speak Now  is written about tell-all confessions, particularly the details of swift's failed celebrity relationships. Taylor Swift used this album to release confessions about her ex's in songs like "Dear John" is about John Mayer or some fictional John Doe, or that " Back To December " may or may not be about Teen Wolf who shares the first name with Swift. When this album came out she had a long year having too much going on or to much has been written about Speak Now  that has been getting more attention from Us Weekly than from Pitchfork , but swift deserves better than that I believe.  This album suffers from a couple of flaws that are common to most pop albums, but Speak Now  is well-earned tiara to the top of Taylor's blonde tresses, an album that deserves to sell zillions of records as is has no doubt it will.  The common flaws are the album has two tracks that are to ...

My future plans and support from family

This free write blog is going to be about my future plans in my life and how I am being supported through the progress. My main future plans in my life as of right now is finishing up my next 3 or 4 years of college here at Blinn. You might be wondering why I want to finish up college, well I am going to college to be a Radiology Technician. Radiology is my main plan in my life. When I was growing up I always thought Radiology was a cool job , but at that time I knew I could never be that in life because I always said I didn't have the mindset or the knowledge for that job so I stopped thinking negative on that. But as I got older I realized that I can do this job. So I changed my mind and decided to change my plans and start thinking about being a Radiology Technician, so I can show my family and friends that I can help and save lives of others and go great for the family name. Helping and saving people have been my biggest concern. There is a lot of people out in t...

Amanda Petrusich Article

Image
Amanda Petrusich , in her article "The Lofty optimism of Spotify and the influence of the Streaming Revolution", argues that Spotify can be negative impact for music on the internet and how we should stay to the normal traditional way of music is having tracks and CDs. When Amanda first stated " I don't stream music she means that she don't like streaming she rather listen to the old traditional way by listening to music by tracks and CDs. Secondly, in the article it says "I'm restless and don't like always being tethered to the internet". It makes Amanda Petrusich feel like she is being restricted to the internet by not allowing her to listen to whatever she wants in her own way. Also in the article it says "Because I still relish the experience of choosing and purchasing albums" she is still greatly enjoying choosing and purchasing albums because she can choose what she wants in her way. She still supports going and getting albu...

About my Hometown

Image
I am going to talk about my hometown. My hometown is a small town in Louisiana called Ferriday. Ferriday is a town in Concordia Parish in Northeastern Louisiana. The population as of (2016) is 3,330. The town claims to have produced more famous people per mile than any other town in America. The main singers that is from Ferriday is Jerry Lee Lewis, Mickey Gilley and even Jimmy Swaggart, without those people Ferriday would not be a big up town like it was back in the day. The Delta Music Museum and Arcade Theater in the middle of downtown shows the famous singers careers of the local legends like Jerry Lee Lewis, Mickey Gilley and Jimmy Swaggart. They were also known as "The Three Cousins". Ferriday is big on professional bass fishing on big Lake St. John. I bet if you talk to a bass fisherman they might have been there a time or two. Now Ferriday is not as big as it was in the day, before long it might be a ghost town wit a lot of history. Why you may ask well every year p...

About Exam #2

Today we had the Exam #2. I felt pretty confident on the exam, because I studied all night and all morning long to make sure I understood all the following discussions that we have been going over the past few weeks in class. What I have done differently this time around was I separated my studying by two parts. First thing I studied is the signal words and the discussions on how topics and main ideas are expressed. But my main studying goes to the vocabulary because we have so many to know from review one or two. On the other exams I am going to approach it the same way I approached this one, by studying in two parts so you know you studied both parts at the same time. My expectations has been the same for Exam #1 because I already know how the test are for still's class. I will approach the future exam the same as I did this exam because I found a way that will help me stay focused on studying. My advice to my classmates on future exams is that always study even though you do not...

My life's Story

Hello my name is Kayla Morace. I am writing a little bit about my life's story. I was born and raised  in a little town called Ferriday , Louisiana. It is about 7 hours way from Bryan, Texas. Ferriday, Louisiana is known for the good spicy crawfish and the two famous singers Jerry Lee Lewis and Mickey Gilley. Some people say I might be related to Jerry Lee Lewis in a way which is very cool.  When I was a little girl I had to ride 7 hours every other month to see my family in Bryan for the holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving and even sometimes Easter. One day me and my family decided to move to Texas to be with the family. I am the youngest out of one brother in my family. I moved to Bryan about 6 years ago to not just be with family but to have a better education for me like high school and college. I graduated at James Earl Rudder High school in May of 2017.   At that moment I been waiting my whole life to graduate because when I was little I was diagnosed with "ADH...
